Man arrested for unlicensed gun in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A man was arrested in Alaminos town, Laguna, early Wednesday, after police recovered from him un unlicensed gun and ammunition, an official said.

Wilson Lentuya, 25, was arrested during a raid conducted by the police inside a videoke bar in Barangay (Village) 3 Poblacion around 1 a.m., Senior Superintendent Manolito Labador, Laguna police director said.

Recovered from Lentuya were a 9-millimeter pistol, 9-mm magazine and eight pieces of live ammunition.

Lentuya would be charged with violation of Republic Act 8294 (illegal possession of firearms), Labador said.

Early this month, the national police started its four-month gun amnesty campaign, which targets at least one million unlicensed guns in the streets.
