NCAA-South unwraps on Sunday

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Jose “Peping” Cojuangco Jr. and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) chairman Gov. Oscar Moreno are the special guests of honor in the 11th season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)-South, which formally kicks off on Sunday at the San Pablo Colleges in San Pablo City, Laguna.

The two top sports officials will join league executives and the nine competing teams during the colorful opening ceremonies prepared by host school San Pablo Colleges.

SBP executive director Noli Eala, chairman of the NCAA-South Policy Board, will deliver the welcome remark, while San Pablo Colleges chairman and president Quintin Eala Jr, is going to declare the Games open.

A tree-planting activity at the Sampaloc lake involving students and city officials usher in the afternoon festivities, followed by a torch parade around the city prior to the show proper set at 5 p.m.

The lone opening game pits defending champion Don Bosco Technical College Mandaluyong against San Pablo Colleges.
