Six arrested in Laguna drug bust

MANILA, Philippines – Anti-illegal drugs operatives arrested six people and confiscated several grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) during a raid in San Pablo City in Laguna on Monday morning, a police official said.

Chief Superintendent Perfecto Palad, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon) police chief, identified those arrested as Nancy Ligon, Boy Ligon, Lulu Ligon, Ruben Agrade Marlyn Esteban and Gloria Lontoc.

Seized in their possession were 25 grams of shabu amounting to P100,000, a caliber 38 revolver, and several illegal drug paraphernalia including a weighing scale, Palad said.

Authorities raided two villages in San Pablo City at 10 a.m. Monday, based on some 20 search warrants issued by Judge Divina Gracia Bustos Ongkeko of the Regional Trial Court in Sta. Cruz, Laguna.

Meanwhile, Palad said, police also placed in their custody some 48 people who are currently being tested for drug use.
