1 dead, 18 hurt in bus-truck collision in Laguna

One person died and 18 others were wounded in a head-on collision between a passenger bus and a delivery truck in San Pablo City, Laguna province on Saturday.

Superintendent Raul Loy Bargamento, city police chief, identified the fatality as Gerald Remedios, a resident of Barangay Antipolo del Sur, Lipa City.

Bargamento said a Raymond Transportation bus with plate number TWX 454 was taking over another vehicle when it rammed the delivery truck being driven by Remedios along Maharlika Highway around 3 a.m..

The victim died instantly while the bus driver identified as Sherwin Roman was injured in his left thigh.

Three other passengers of the truck and 14 bus passengers were also injured.

Police said charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple physical injuries will be filed against the bus driver.
