Fire hits SM mall for four hours, no reported casualties

The fire struck the stock room of SM Cubao at 12:08 p.m., reaching the fourth alarm before it was put out at 3:58 pm, the city fire department said.
During the fire, members of the Special Rescue Unit were able to enter the stock room through the basement of the mall to look for people who could have been trapped inside.

Though causing alarm in the area, those immediately affected were motorists headed towards the mall who were advised to take a detour as roads leading to the area have been closed, the report said.

SM Cubao is a mall-based department store owned by SM Prime Holdings, located at the 35-hectare Araneta Center, a pioneering commercial hub in Metro Manila.
