(UPDATE 3) Hubert Webb is now a free man and is looking forward to spending Christmas in his own home and with his family and 17-year-old son.

“I want to spend time with my family. Hindi ko na alam ang bahay namin, kasi 15 taon na akong kulong,” Webb said in his first press conference, aired live over radio dzMM.

Webb’s co-accused Antonio Lejano, Michael Gatchalian, Pyke Fernandez, Miguel Rodriguez, Peter Estrada have also walked free. Gerardo Biong was earlier released from prison after completing his sentence.

Former Senator Freddie Webb said their family will drop by the Church first to thank God for Hubert’s freedom. But through all these, he said he also shares Lauro Vizconde’s grief in his search for justice.

“I share his grief, hindi ko makukuha sapat na salita…but my son has nothing to with his family. Our statement would be I wish we knew [the real perpetrators]. We have no knowledge whasoever. Bakit nga ba hindi, kung makakatulong [If we could help them, why not],” the former Senator said.

“Gusto kong magpasalamat sa Diyos kasi hindi kami pinabayaan, ang pamilya namin magkakasama,” the now free Webb earlier said.

Webb said he has forgiven the people who have done him wrong. He said being jailed for “4,000 days” taught him to forgive.

“Isang bagay natutunan ko dito ay marunong ka dapat magpatawad sa gumawa sa’yo ng kasalanan…mas malaki ang pag-asa na makikita ng panginoon na ganun ka rin,” said Webb.

“Nagpapasalamat ako ‘yung katotohanan lumabas talaga. Magmula sa umpisa sinabi naming inosente kami. Di kami tumakbo [I am thankful the truth came out. From the start, we were telling them we're innocent," he added.

Webb lambasted people who accused his family of paying the magistrates to acquit him and other co-accused.

"Nagkabayaran? Ano ba ho sinasabi nila sa amin nung una. Lahat nabibili niya, lahat nababayaran niya pero bakit nakulong ako 15 taon [If we had power and money, why was I jailed for 15 years?],” he said.

Meanwhile, Webb challenged primary witness Jessica Alfaro to undergo a lie detector test.

“Sabi niya ako daw yun e wala ako dito. Magpalie detector test kami sabay sabay. Hindi ako natatakot. Sa DNA lumaban kami. Lahat ng hamon tinaggap namin para lang patunayan na wala kaming kasalanan,” he added.

Meanwhile, Webb asked Lauro Vizconde to see beyond hate. He noted he also wants the real perpetrators to be punished.

“Sabay sabay tayong magdasal na ‘yung may kasalanan parusahan. Dati pa naman sinabi namin, tignan, suriin kung nagsisinungaling kami. Wala namang may gusto [Let's all pray that the real killers be punished. Nobody wanted this to happen],” he added.
