A garden show in Laguna

The upcoming garden show of the Los Baños Horticulture Society (LBHS) promises to be very colorful. To be held at the Seniors Social Garden at UP Los Banos in Laguna, the show opens on April 29 and runs until May 8. Dubbed as “Fiesta sa Laguna,” the show will highlight the province’s exciting culture. It will likewise present the popular delicacies such as buko pie, cassava cake, oraro biscuits, fresh choco-milk, mangoes, and sweetened pili nuts, among others.

The landscape booths will carry a theme and will impart the atmosphere of a particular town in Laguna. For instance, the booth of the garden shop Gintong Talulot will feature Los Baños while designer Tony Pajaro will focus on Calauan. Pagsanjan will be the theme of Laguna resident CV Lazaro. Mable Chua will feature the products of Liliw and Exotica Garden will present the bougainvilleas of Bay. Louisiana and San Pablo Laguna will also be represented in the landscape designs of VS Orchids and Robel Garden, respectively.

The show’s cast of thousands include flowering plants such as orchids, African daisies, chrysanthemums, bougainvilleas, bromeliads, anthuriums, tillandsias, and a lot of annuals. The East-West seed company will also be showcasing its new line of flower varieties such the celosia, marigold, pentas, petunia, zinniak, and vinca plants. The other half of the central hall will showcase the Horticulture Cluster of UPLB. Marina Catipon, president of the LBHS, also said a portion of the exhibit area has been reserved for a “tiangge” of sorts, where delicacies and other products made in Laguna will be sold.
