Village chief slain in Laguna

A village chief was gunned down Monday morning by a motorcycle-riding man at a parking lot of Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Barangay San Nicolas, this city, police said.

Superintendent Ferdinand de Castro, San Pablo city police chief, identified the fatality as Billy Palma, incumbent chairman of Barangay VI-B.

Initial investigation showed that the victim had just alighted from his car on his way to the LTO for the registration of his vehicle at about 9:30 a.m. when a man on board a motorcycle suddenly appeared and shot him using a .45- caliber pistol.

Palma died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the head and body.
